Oklahoma - Upon licensure in Oklahoma in 2025, I will accept a few insurance plans (TBD), as well as private pay.
Iowa - I currently accept United (UHC/UMR), Avera, and Midlands Choice (several plans under this: some include Cigna, Healthpartners, Oscar). Aetna coming soon.
To find out if I am in-network with your specific plan, please contact your insurance provider directly. If I do not accept your insurance, I also offer private pay as an option.
Insurance Info: Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis for insurance to cover the payment. If taking insurance, I am required to assign a mental health diagnosis that would go on your permanent health record. If you are not comfortable with this and the potential impact it may have, private pay may be a better option for you.

Private pay (or cash pay) is paying for therapy out of pocket, by cash, check, or credit card.
What are the Benefits to Private Pay?
Greater confidentiality: When you pay for therapy out of pocket, you do not have to worry about your insurance company or employer accessing your therapy records. This can be especially important for individuals who are concerned about their privacy and want to keep their therapy sessions confidential.
More control over treatment: When you pay for therapy out of pocket, you have more control over your treatment plan. You can choose your therapist and the type of therapy that you receive, and you can work with your therapist to create a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to your needs.
No insurance limitations: Insurance plans often limit the number of therapy sessions that you can receive or the types of therapy that are covered. When you pay for therapy out of pocket, you do not have to worry about these limitations, and you can receive as much therapy as you need.
Quicker access to therapy: With private pay therapy, you do not have to worry about waiting for insurance approval or dealing with the paperwork and bureaucracy that can come with insurance coverage. This means that you can often access therapy faster and start getting the help that you need sooner.
More focused therapy: Insurance plans often require therapists to focus on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders in order to justify coverage. With private pay therapy, you can focus on any issues or concerns that you want to work on, regardless of whether they meet the criteria for a specific diagnosis.
For private pay clients, I can provide you with a super bill/receipt that you may send to your insurance company for potential reimbursement from them (this will be between you and your insurance provider).
Your insurance provider may cover a portion of the fee. This may depend on your copay, if you have met your deductible, the mental health benefits provided by your insurance, etc. *If using reimbursement benefits, you also need to meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis, which will most likely be requested by your insurance provider (among other information).
In order to find out if you have any reimbursement benefits, I recommend calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card and confirming:
What information will have to be shared in order for reimbursement to occur?
Do I have out-of-network coverage for therapy/mental health services?
If so, is there a deductible?
If there is a deductible, have I met it yet this year?
What percentage of fees will be covered?

I understand things come up and there are times you may need to cancel. I offer a 'one time free pass,' for the first time in which you no show, late cancel, or late reschedule.
If needed, please cancel more than 24 hours before your scheduled session time. This is helpful for me and respectful of my time, so that other clients may have adequate notice to book the cancelled time slot.
*No shows and sessions cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours before your appointment will be charged the full session fee, at the private pay rate for your state and type of session (individual / couple / intake).

Research shows that clients who engage in weekly therapy benefit more from their therapy experience than those who come in less frequently. For this reason, I highly recommend scheduling weekly sessions, at least during our first 6 months together. If you would prefer to meet more or less often, I would be happy to discuss a schedule that accommodates your needs.

The length of therapy is unique to each individual / couple, and truly is determined by your life experiences, goals for therapy, the work you put in, and the extent of your needs. At the beginning of treatment, I will work with you to determine your goals and then check in with you regularly to assess and re-evaluate.
Gentle reminder: this is your journey, and am I just here to help. That being, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. If you feel that it's time to take a break, reduce frequency, or move on from our work together, I will be there to support you in the transition.

The client-therapist relationship is such an important one. If we begin working together (or even if we've worked together for some time) and either of us find that we’re not the right fit, I’ll happily provide you with referrals for other therapists / counselors in the community.
-
Absolutely! I am highly community and holistic health-minded, so I view therapy as just a part of your healing journey. In working with me, you can expect that at some point I will provide referrals for many different types of practices that exist to serve your overall health and wellness.
Examples include: psychologists (testing), psychiatrists (medication management), chiropractors, physical therapists, yoga, meditation, massage, reiki, acupuncture, functional medicine, other general medical doctors, etc.
